Mesh is both the digital hub that supports the database of resources, and the connected community of those that contribute their expertise, and those that come to find the guidance they require. Mesh works strongly to connect excellence in engaging the community on health research and enabling the members to share their know-how so that best practices are transferred between disease areas and settings. As a Mesh Africa Regional Coordinator, we will work closely with the Mesh Senior Programme Manager, other Mesh Regional Coordinators, and other members of The Global Health Network’s global and regional team, to support and deliver regional community engagement-related virtual and on-the-ground activities. This role is critical to facilitating and promoting knowledge exchange by sharing the outputs and materials from initiatives through Mesh and your regional and country centers, enabling wider groups to benefit from these educational means. We will engage with regional research groups and encourage the sharing and reporting of methods, tools, and resources within this field. This will involve building contacts, professional relationships, and knowledge across various settings, and working with wide-ranging collaborators to release and share their approaches, practices, guidance, and methods on the Mesh open-access platform. In addition, we may organize relevant regional skills-based webinars and workshops, research clubs, supported learning sessions, and develop working groups, to share knowledge and learnings on community engagement. We are expected to customize activities to the local priorities of communities and align with the research agenda of the networks, institutions, and groups you work alongside. We will be trained in the content management system by our in-house digital team. This will give us access to the mesh online knowledge hub for uploading resources as accrued through your work. Acting as a ‘local champion’ your role will be critical to the success of this initiative in the region and provide us with the opportunity to partner with the core operational team on the design, planning, and oversight of all these activities. With the nature of this role deeply embedded in the research environment, there are also valuable academic and career development prospects on offer to engage in.
